What is the coping skills group?
It is a group geared toward helping kids aged 4-7 with various emotional and behavioral difficulties learn more effective ways to manage their emotions and alleviate stress.
When/Where will the group take place?
There are TWO groups that your child can receive group therapy in. Both groups are 8 weeks long and they are on Saturdays at 1:00p.m. at the Center for Children (La Plata, MD office).
First Group: April 9, 2016-June 4, 2016
Second Group: June 11, 2016-August 6, 2016
What to expect from the coping skills group:
The coping skills group is a close-ended group with a curriculum grounded in the evidence-based practice, dialectical and behavioral therapy. By the end of the group, the children will have learned effective ways to self-regulate and be able to teach parents/caregivers new ways they cope with anger, stress, depression, and anxiety.
If your child is not an active client at Center for Children, please call the office to schedule an initial evaluation BEFORE the group begins.
