Family Resource Center

Discover how to Navigate in order to Advocate

The Family Resource Center (FRC) is a free resource locator service for all residents of Charles County. People living in Charles County and Community partners can also refer to the FRC for free resource location with one of our Family Resource Specialist.  If eligible, short term case management, focused upon advocacy and connecting families to services, can be provided by the Family Resource Specialist.

Being a parent is the most demanding and rewarding job you will ever have. Yet there isn’t a manual available to give you instructions when you have questions or need help. There is one place you can turn to for answers and support—The Family Resource Center and Family Resource Specialist  can assist you with finding the resources you need to raise healthy and successful children.

Our Family Resource Specialist  provides community-based case management and advocacy to support families with children less than 19 years of age and adolescence ages 16 – 24, who have behavioral or mental health needs. Our specialist can provide resources and referrals for ANYONE in the county; regardless of family status (single, married, with children, with grown children, with no children, etc), income, or any other restrictions.

How it works –

  1. Speak with our Family Resource Specialist about the problems your family is facing.
  2. Our Specialist will tell you what programs and services can help, and how to contact them.
  3. Contact the programs yourself or have our specialist help you get in touch with the services that can help your family be more happy, healthy, and successful.

Re-Engaging Youth Program

We now offer a program specifically for youth between the ages of 16 -24. This program is designed to help individuals develop the necessary skills needed to gain employment and become more stable and productive. This program includes one on planning and situational navigating with our Family Resources Specialist, resume building and interview preparation help. We then work hard to find possible job placement, recommendation or referral opportunities. The program is geared toward youth who  …

  • Recently aged out of the Foster Care System
  • Transitioning from a juvenile justice facility
  • Recently returning home from college
  • Maybe homeless
  • or in any other transitional and/or non tradition situation
